Taylor Swift & Selena Gomez Friendship Over? Selena Blasts Taylor As 'Bad Influence' After Rehab
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have made no secret of their close friendship over the years, but sources are now alleging that Selena is “over” Taylor and their relationship after reportedly completing her recent stint in rehab for lupus and its side effects.
That’s according to a new report by Radar Online, who’s claiming that Swift and Gomez are supposedly no longer best friends, even going as far as to claim that Selena is “over” Taylor after branding her a “bad influence” in her recovery, which could mean Gomez’s name could soon be added to Swift’s long list of feud partners.
“Since Selena got out of rehab, she has been cutting out all of the bad influences in her life,” a source alleged to the site of the supposed feud brewing between Swift and the “Good For You” singer, claiming that Gomez’s supposed friendship purge “definitely included Taylor” despite their years-long friendship.
As for why Selena allegedly feels that Taylor is a bad influence when it comes to her recovery after entering rehab back in September, Radar Online’s insider is claiming that Gomez feels that Swift, who has a squeaky-clean public image, supposedly knows how to get “wild” when out of public view.
“Selena is sober now, and she is doing everything right,” the source revealed of Gomez’s road to recovery, potentially without Taylor. “She is continuing to see a therapist and surround herself with positive influences. Taylor, unfortunately, does not make the cut anymore.”
The Swift insider also went on to claim to the site that Taylor is also allegedly pretty competitive when it comes to her friendships, which is another reason Gomez has reportedly been turned off when it comes to their friendship in recent weeks.
“She’s completely over it,” the insider continued of Selena, alleging that Gomez thinks that Swift is supposedly “trying to one-up” her when it comes to their extremely successful respective careers in the entertainment industry.
“Taylor is always trying to one-up Selena, and make it look like Selena is just lucky to be her friend,” claimed the source amid the latest Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez feud claims.
The site’s insider also went on to allege amid the feud accusations that Gomez supposedly “refused” to attend Taylor’s birthday party to celebrate Swift turning 27 on December 13, reportedly skipping Swift’s birthday bash at the advice of her counselor.
While neither Selena nor Taylor has commented on reported claiming that they could be locked in a feud amid allegations their long friendship is over, Gomez notably did not acknowledge Swift’s birthday on social media as she has done in years past, despite Taylor gushing over Selena on her 24th birthday back in July.
Swift posted a sweet photo of herself and Selena making a heart with their hands on July 22, which she captioned, “Going through old pictures today, because @selenagomez just turned 24! I can’t imagine my life without you, Selena. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
Selena has notably not appeared in any photos or videos uploaded to Taylor’s Instagram account since, while Gomez, who has taken somewhat of a social media hiatus since her rehab stint, has not posted a photo with Swift since February, in which she told her potentially now former friend that she was “proud” of her after she and Taylor walked the 2016 Grammy Awards red carpet together.
But while both Gomez and Swift are both staying tight-lipped when it comes to the status of their friendship amid the feud accusations, Selena first sparked rumors of bad blood with her bestie back in July after she failed to attend Taylor’s annual Fourth of July party at her home in Rhode Island.
Swift posted multiple photos of her celebration with her girl squad, including Blake Lively, Karlie Kloss, and Gigi Hadid to Instagram, though Entertainment Tonight reported that Gomez instead opted to throw her own Fourth of July party rather than spending the holiday with Taylor as she has in years prior.
Selena posted a video of her celebrations to the social media site minus Swift, where the site revealed that Gomez used some interesting background music to accompany her post, uploading her video to the sounds of Katy Perry’s “Firework,” despite Taylor’s longstanding and bitter feud with her fellow pop star.
